Mustikkaunelma

Mustikkaunelma is a 37.5 ha sized old-growth forest that is in a fairly good state. It mainly consists of dry pine forest stretching as a narrow but long strip from Hanski village all the way to Rännänen village. It has been named Mustikkaunelma (bilberry dream) due to its plentiful bilberry yields, which were a dream come true for Ilkka Hanski who had a passion for picking bilberries. Protection of the area enables harvesting of bilberries and other berries in the future.
